Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor in Mathematics

Penn State Behrend invites applications for a non-tenure track, fixed-term appointment in Mathematics. This position will be at the rank of lecturer or assistant teaching professor (depending on qualifications) starting August 2018. After initial appointment, the position is renewable based on enrollments, program needs and performance. Responsibilities include: teaching college mathematics courses or statistics courses; performing scholarly activity; advising and mentoring students; and service to the school and college. Applicants are expected to teach entry-level algebra and trigonometry through second-year calculus. The ability to teach introductory statistics and/or business mathematics is also desirable. Applicants should possess a commitment to continued growth as an educator and willingness to be an active member of the program. Applicants must have a content Master's degree or higher in mathematics, statistics, or related quantitative or applied field; relevant teaching experience; and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Penn State Behrend is a four-year undergraduate and graduate college of Penn State University with 4,700 students. The School of Science offers B.S. degrees in biology, chemistry, mathematics, mathematics education, nursing, physics, and environmental science. Erie, Pennsylvania, a metropolitan area of 280,000 residents, is a major service, tourism, medical, and industrial center on Lake Erie's Presque Isle Bay and is located two hours from Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo. The region offers many cultural, sports, and recreational resources, as well as modest living costs and affordable housing. There are five colleges in the Erie area.
