Mathematician, Human Organ Design

Develop the algorithms that will enable 3D bioprinting of human organs. The Organ Manufacturing program seeks to expand its team with a mathematician with the ability to develop generative models of 3D human organ structure to enable organ bioprinting. This position requires the ability to adapt existing algorithms or to invent new ones that can generate 3D human organ structures that adhere to known rules governing physiological structure and function. This work will support the development of methods to produce 3D printed organ scaffolds that will be cellularized and transplanted into humans. This position also has the possibility of building a team to architect all human tissues, thus transforming the field of 3D bioprinting.

- Lead development efforts for generative modeling of human organs - Lead internal and external development efforts with collaborators - Establish and maintain a deep understanding of current and emerging algorithms in generative modeling, procedural generation, 3D bioprinter data formats and automated image processing - Oversee the use of algorithms to generate Human Organ Blueprints - Analyze and present data from 3D printer runs that evaluate novel algorithm performance - Work closely with the Organ Manufacturing mechanical engineering team to integrate hardware and algorithm development - Work closely with the Organ Manufacturing biomaterials team to ensure bioink development is integrated with algorithm development - Analyze data and present results - Work independently and meet milestones - Work with software engineering team on implementation of algorithms

- 3-5 years of experience in mathematics, computer science, or computer-aided graphic design - 3 years of experience managing algorithm development projects - Experience with generative systems, L-Systems, and related fields - Experience in overseeing sponsored collaborations is desired - Experience in writing scripts to handle large 3D printer data sets - 3D design experience in MatLab, Mathematica, COMSOL, or CAD is desirable; including FreeForm, Magics, Solidworks, Rhino, Z-Brush, or 3DS Max - Experience with 3D bioprinting software design preferred Houdini, Matlab, Mathematica, Python, L-System rendering packages, 3D printing object rendering software, AutoCAD, FreeForm, Magics, Solidworks, Rhino, Z-Brush, 3DS Max
