The Learning Commons provides centralized academic support for University of Cincinnati’s students. We bring together faculty, best practices in teaching and learning, and hundreds of outstanding peer educators to create flexible academic success programming. Departmental and Faculty Liaison Responsibilities Act as liaison to faculty in Great Gateways Course Departments (e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, etc.) Coordinate course creation and ordering for Learning Commons-developed content supports such as Supplemental Review Sessions Potential opportunities to teach 1 to 2 undergraduate courses per year within either Physics, Mathematical Sciences, or Chemistry, depending on candidate credentials Coordinate faculty education and teaching innovation initiatives with relevant departments and the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning Coordinate on relevant campus course and teaching initiatives, as appropriate and requiring Learning Commons support

AD Responsibilities Directly supervise Educational Advisors focusing on discipline-specific and embedded supports (e.g. Academic Writing Center, MASS Center, Learning Assistants, Supplemental Instruction, and Supplemental Review Session programs), as well as other positions that may fall under Learning Commons Great Gateways support. Direct the operations of at least one internal “Goal Team” focusing on an area of intra-office collaboration (i.e. Faculty Engagement, Data Management and Technology, Marketing, etc.) Coordinate with stakeholder colleges to determine appropriate peer educator supports for Great Gateways courses. Direct allocation and priorities of Peer Educator staff in reporting programs and offices. In conjunction with the Learning Commons Director, oversee internal budgetary allocations and tracking. Serve on relevant committees both inside and outside the university.

Additional Responsibilities Coordinate with Math Department on content creation for SRS program. Coordinate with appropriate Learning Commons Staff to set program objectives and assessments for programs support Great Gateways courses. Assist in Learning Commons marketing, research, and staff development initiatives. Coordinate with relevant undergraduate affairs around novel assessment, research, and funding opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with seven (7) years' experience; -OR- Associate's degree with nine (9) years' experience; -OR- eleven (11) years' experience. Degree and experience must be in a related field

Ideal Qualifications: PhD in STEM field; PhD in Physical or Mathematical Sciences, or Engineering preferred 2+ years of teaching in undergraduate settings Experience with best practices in peer-to-peer education, co-curricular support programming, and/or STEM pedagogy
