Salary: $69,148* - $93,830 p.a. (*PhD entry Level A.6 $87,415 p.a.) plus 9.5% superannuation

The Role The Research Fellow will have a solid background in applied mathematics (or equivalent) and is sought to conduct mathematical systems theory research in the area of optimal control for continuous time nonlinear dynamical systems, with an emphasis on the development of new theory and computationally efficient methods arising from min/max plus analysis of dynamic programming.

Initial appointment is available for 12 months which will be reviewed at the end of this term.

Your profile • A PhD in Applied Mathematics or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent qualification • A proven track record in quality research commensurate with experience, as evidenced by research publications in the top systems theory journals and conferences • Solid working knowledge of optimal control theory and an understanding of functional analysis • Exposure to abstract algebra, convex analysis, optimization, and / or the development of numerical methods is desirable

Additional Information The successful candidate will be affiliated with the Control and Signal Processing Laboratory in the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, and will report to Associate Professor Peter Dower.
