The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Purdue University Fort Wayne invites applications for a tenure track position in Data Science and Applied Statistics beginning January 2019 (contingent on available funding). Applicants for this position should hold or expect to have completed a PhD in Data Science, Statistics or related field by Spring 2019. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in multivariate analysis, machine learning, discrete data analysis, and stochastic processes. Faculty members teach nine credits per semester while maintaining a significant program of scholarly work leading to publication. New members are expected to enhance further the departmental reputation for excellence in teaching and research. Appropriate department and university service is also expected. Rank is at the Assistant Professor level. The salary and fringe benefits are competitive. The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers master's programs in Mathematics and Mathematics Education, a Graduate Certificate in Applied Statistics, and bachelor's programs in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Science and Applied Statistics and Mathematics Teaching. The department also has a strong Center of Excellence in Applied Mathematics and Statistics.
