The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Smith College invites applications for a tenure-track position in mathematics to begin July 1, 2019. Dedicated teacher-scholars from all areas of mathematics or related fields are encouraged to apply. Qualifications for the position include a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field, a strong commitment to teaching, and a high potential for research. Candidates with experience will be given special consideration. 

We seek someone with research interests that complement those of the current faculty and experience and strong interest in undergraduate teaching. We are the home of the Center for Women in Mathematics. In addition to courses in theoretical mathematics and applied mathematics, we offer a statistics track through the major, we co-host a Five College certificate in the biomathematical sciences, and with our award-winning post-baccalaureate program, we send a cohort of students to graduate school each year. The department is active in numerous research areas, with dynamic collaborations between faculty, and with students. Further details may be found at

Located in Northampton, MA, Smith College is the largest women’s college in the country and is dedicated to excellence in teaching and research across the liberal arts. A faculty of outstanding scholars interact with students in small classes, as advisors, and through student-faculty research projects. The College is a member of the Five College Consortium with Amherst, Hampshire and Mt. Holyoke Colleges, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Students cross-enroll and faculty may cross-teach across the Five Colleges.
