The Department of Mathematics at The University of Alabama invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track position at the rank of assistant or associate professor in algebraic geometry, commutative algebra, non-commutative algebras, or representation theory. Preference will be given to applicants whose work has connections to topology and knot theory or to candidates whose work has applications to cryptography. The position will begin on August 16, 2019. The University of Alabama is a student-centered research university. The preferred candidate is expected to have a strong research program as evidenced by publications in top quality journals and a track record of external funding. The candidate should be committed to providing stellar education to undergraduate and graduate students and should be committed to supervising undergraduate research and graduate dissertations. Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in mathematics or a very closely related field by August 16, 2019, and must have teaching experience post PhD.
