Tuition Benefit: Effective Fall 2018, MSU Denver will pay full tuition costs (Undergraduate) for benefit eligible employees, their spouses, and eligible dependents. Benefit eligible employees will receive up to 9 credit hours per academic semester of fully paid tuition. Spouses and eligible dependents are allowed up to 12 credit hours per academic semester of fully paid tuition. Student and book fees are not paid for. Benefits are effective the date of hire.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach 12 hours of undergraduate mathematical science courses per semester, including evenings, perhaps on-line courses, and using multimedia and other technologies as needed; advise students; participate in course and program development and in scholarly and professional development activities; perform university and community service; perform other duties as assigned by the Chair; and work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population. The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for underrepresented groups.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or Statistics completed by August 1, 2019.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION: The successful candidate will have: Strong oral and written communication skills. Experience teaching mathematics at the undergraduate level with evidence of effective teaching. Broad interests in undergraduate education, including mentoring undergraduate research and recruitment and/or retention of students from underrepresented groups. Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse urban student population including (but not limited to) students of color, LBGTQIA students, students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans, and English-language learners. Evidence of potential for continued scholarly activity. All mathematical and statistical research fields are encouraged to apply.

RANK & SALARY: Salary is commensurate with experience and education with a value around, but not necessarily equal to, $58,000 for an Assistant Professor.
