The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at James Madison University (JMU) invites applicants for multiple renewable term appointment (RTA) faculty positions at the rank of Instructor, starting fall semester 2019. Applicants should have a master’s degree in statistics, a master’s degree in mathematics, or the equivalent. Some graduate work in statistics is preferred. Duties will include teaching up to 12 credits per semester and department service. Teaching assignments will include some sections of a course in quantitative reasoning. Ability to teach statistics is preferred. Scholarship expectations are as appropriate for a teaching-oriented position at the instructor rank, and may emphasize pedagogy or curriculum. RTA appointments may be renewed indefinitely subject to satisfactory performance and continuing university needs. The department includes approximately 50 faculty and offers bachelors degrees in statistics and mathematics.
