Slippery Rock University invites applications for a highly motivated full-time tenure-track faculty member in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience. Slippery Rock University’s mathematics and statistics program has a current enrollment of over 100 students. The department offers several concentrations including actuarial science, statistics, secondary education, and multiple interdisciplinary fields. It offers a Master of Science in Data Analytics and provides service courses to the physical, natural, and health sciences, and to engineering.

A PhD in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics prior to employment is required. Preference will be given to applicants whose area of specialization complements those of current faculty. Prior college-level teaching experience, evidence of a scholarly agenda, and experience conducting faculty-student research are also preferred. Exceptional qualities include experience in, or willingness to learn, non-traditional, active learning pedagogies, and the use of modern pedagogical delivery systems.

The teaching load is twelve credits per semester of undergraduate courses or nine credits per semester of graduate courses. Faculty will be expected to maintain a scholarly agenda. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in teaching, service, and scholarly growth, and be able to teach a variety of courses ranging from service courses to advanced mathematics courses. Candidates must have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively. Exemplary service to the university that extends beyond the classroom is also expected. A commitment to the education of diverse populations and successful performance in an on-campus interview, including teaching demonstration, are required.
