The Instituto de Matemáticas at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) seeks candidates for full-time tenure-track professor positions in the area of Statistics starting on April 1st, 2019, or later. The position is for the branch of the Institute in the city of Cuernavaca. 

This position is to be held by a researcher working in the field of Statistics and its applications, with appropriate knowledge of the software required in these fields. In order to be selected candidates should show abilities to perform research in the field of applied statistics and collaboration with industry, academy, government and civil society.  Experience with such collaboration will be highly appreciated.


UNAM is the leading university of Mexico, and among the strongest research Math institutions in Latin America. The institute has more than 90 full time researchers covering many areas of Mathematics. More information about the Institute and the university can be found at www.matem.unam.mx. 

Qualifications include postdoctoral experience (or equivalent experience), effective communication skills, commitment to teaching excellence, and an active research program in Mathematics. 

Responsibilities include, maintaining a strong research program, teaching one course per semester at the undergraduate or graduate level in a topic of interest to the candidate, and advising students.
