POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Mathematics Non-Tenure Track Faculty

The Mathematics Department at Central Washington University seeks to fill a one-year, non-tenure track faculty position beginning September 16, 2019. We are an active and vibrant department of more than two dozen full-time tenure-stream faculty and non-tenure stream instructors. Our largest major is mathematics education, followed by actuarial science and the standard Bachelor’s degree in mathematics. The department enrolls approximately 2000 students each quarter. The average class size is about 30, with a maximum of 40. We have a longstanding reputation as being one of the premiere institutions in the Pacific Northwest for the preparation of highly-trained mathematics teachers, actuaries, and math graduates. We are expanding the scope of our statistics offerings, and have begun plans for a new data science program.

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include teaching courses such as introductory statistics, calculus, and introduction to proof. The successful candidate will be expected to possess superior teaching abilities and willingness to teach a wide range of courses at all levels of mathematics. Candidates with an active research program will be eligible for 9 credits of course release.

Qualifications: Required: • Earned doctorate or ABD status by September 15, 2019 in Mathematics or Statistics. • Evidence of teaching excellence and strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.

Preferred: • Teaching experience at the college level. • Potential to develop an active research/scholarship program. • Commitment to collaborative research with students.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
