Position Description:    

As the disciplines Statistics and Data Science are currently undergoing a strategic expansion at University of Macau (UM), Department of Mathematics invites applications for a faculty position in Statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor. Preference will be given to the candidate with a strong research agenda in Statistics, Data Science and related fields.  

Department of Mathematics currently has 17 faculty members and more than 30 PhD students, their research areas cover Probability and Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Mathematical Physics, and Analysis. The department offers Bachelor, Master and PhD degree programs. The Bachelor degree program has two streams: Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science. The PhD program provides sufficient financial supports through the following funding sources: Chinese Government NSFC Funding, Macau Government FDCT PhD Funding, UM PhD Scholarship, UM PhD Assistantship.

UM is the only public comprehensive university in Macao. Qualifications

The candidates must have a PhD degree in related fields. Preference will be given to the candidates with extensive research and teaching experience at the tertiary level.  

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in January 2020.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP686,400 (approximately USD84,630), which is highly competitive among top universities in Greater Bay Area, will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions. Apart from competitive remuneration, UM offers a wide range of benefits, such as medical insurance, provident fund, on campus accommodation/housing allowance and other subsidies.
