Job Title 
Quantitative Researcher 

Job Function 

The role of the quantitative researcher at QuantRes is to assist with improvements to our fund’s trading strategies, as well as to generate new indicators for use in these strategies.
From time to time, the researcher may be called upon to test third party strategies and offer insights on how they could be integrated with existing systems. 
The researcher should be familiar with the process of back-testing strategies and developing financial models.
In order to succeed in this role, the researcher must be able to work independently as well as function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. 
The researcher reports to the research business unit manager.

 Key Responsibilities 

 • Identify and translate research requirements into conceptual designs and technical specifications for development and configuration as required.
 • Coordinate with project members working on site and those working remotely to delegate development responsibility. 
 • Document and test third-party strategies. 
 • Data analysis and tracing data lineage. 
 • Test new software features as well as bug fixes. 
 • Take ownership of a piece of work and see it through to successful completion even after the delegation of the tasks. 
 • Progressively expand knowledge of the various systems and their interaction through documentation, especially specifications for new solutions. 

Required Skills 

 • Advanced degree (at least a Masters) in a Science, Mathematical, Financial or Engineering discipline. 
 • Good listener with excellent written and verbal English skills. 
 • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
 • Good organizational and time management skills. 
 • Self-motivated to learn and be resourceful. 
 • Ability to work independently and within a team. 
 • Experience with statistical computing programming languages such as R or Python (including the NumPy and SciPy libraries). 
 • Understanding of machine learning techniques particularly random forest and neural networks. 
 • Experience with software development is a plus.  
 • Knowledge of finance and financial statistics. 
 • Comfortable investigating data and code in order to help troubleshoot. Personal Skills

 • Ability to work independently and within a team. 
 • Excellent communication skills that facilitate teamwork and interaction with colleagues including strong stakeholder engagement. 
 • Extremely detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
