DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS

Non-Tenure-track Instructor

The College of Arts and Sciences at the University of South Carolina-Columbia invites applications for a full-time position of Instructor of Mathematics. This is a 9-month appointment and is not in the tenure track. The position is renewable based on satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding.  Applicants must have an M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education and demonstrated excellence in teaching.  The expected teaching load is 4-4. Additionally, the person hired in this position will be Math Placement Test (MPT) coordinator; course releases will be given based on MPT work.

 The Mathematics Department (http://www.math.sc.edu/), located in the heart of the historic campus, currently has 37 tenured and tenure-track faculty, 8 instructors, 51 graduate students, over 180 majors, and 40 minors.  Faculty research interests include analysis, numerical analysis, modeling and simulation, scientific computing, biomathematics, constructive approximation, discrete mathematics, as well as algebra, geometry, logic, number theory, and topology.
