Frostburg State University, Department of Mathematics, seeks applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer to begin in Fall 2019. Salary commensurate with experience.

The Department of Mathematics is located in the state-of-the-art Gira Center for Communications and Information Technology opened in 2014. We support a number of academic programs in addition to serving approximately 70 students who major or minor in Mathematics.

FSU is located on a scenic 260-acre campus in the Appalachian Highlands of Western Maryland, a region rich in history and outdoor recreational activities. The campus is situated just two hours southeast of Pittsburgh and two hours west of Washington, DC.

Responsibilities: Teach introductory courses, including those involved in a new University initiative that supports students in their first mathematics course, especially those students who place low on the University’s entrance exam. Assist with program assessment and development of materials to support active learning. Participation in departmental service related to this initiative is expected.

Minimum Qualifications: Masters in Mathematics, or closely related field required. Must be committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.

The department is especially interested in candidates with a clear potential for an inclusive and student-centered teaching style. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to contribute positively to a collegial environment required. Early-career candidates with interest in teaching at a regional comprehensive university are strongly encouraged to apply.
