Program Description:    

Position of the Chair of the Science Program at Texas A&M University at Qatar Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) (http://www.qatar.tamu.edu/), a branch campus of Texas A&M University (TAMU), invites applications for the position of Program Chair for the Science Program. The successful candidate must relocate to Qatar. It is anticipated that the position will be filled by the beginning of the Spring 2020 semester or as soon thereafter as possible. This position is for a duration of 3 to 5 years and is renewable upon a positive recommendation by the program faculty members and concurrence by the Dean.

The Position of Program Chair Responsibilities of the Program Chair include: • providing overall leadership and direction; • managing the use of resources; • ensuring that TAMUQ course offerings are materially identical with respect to curriculum and quality compared to the corresponding disciplines at TAMU; • promoting and identifying opportunities for the development of the Program by continuing and strengthening strategic relationships with faculty across campus, local industry, and the regional community; • pursuing innovations in education, research, and service.

As a faculty member of the Science Program, the Chair is expected to teach with an average teaching load of one course (typically 3 credit-hour course) per semester and to maintain an active externally-funded research program.

Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in mathematics, physics, chemistry or a closely related field and have an accomplished research and teaching record. They should also possess excellent communication skills with a proven record of effective leadership in identifying, prioritizing and addressing organizational challenges in an academic or related setting. Additional essential qualifications will include successful administrative experience, ability to effectively engage a broad range of stakeholders, and a strong commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion. The successful candidate is expected to be a strong advocate for the program and to lead it in the development and implementation of a compelling vision for education, research, and service.

TAMUQ offers a competitive salary package commensurate with rank and experience. The package for the Chair includes accommodations, annual home leave allowances, and other benefits.
