The Department of Mathematics at NC State University is inviting applications for one postdoctoral position. The applicants must have a PhD in mathematics or a closely related field (e.g., physics, mechanical engineering or computer science).

The postdoctoral associate is expected to have a strong background in applied dynamical systems and/or data science and scientific computing. The postdoc will work with Prof. Mohammad Farazmand on data-driven modeling and analysis of dynamical systems. We are specially interested in data-driven methods for prediction and mitigation of extreme events in dynamical systems with applications in rogue waves, extreme weather events, turbulence, epileptic seizure, etc.

The positions anticipated start date is on or after August 16, 2019. The position is for an initial term of one year, with the potential for renewal pending adequate progress and continued availability of funding. The starting 12 month salary is $52,000.
