The College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for a full time, non-tenure track Associate Dean Position.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Dean of the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, this position serves as the Associate Dean for quantitative literacy. The incumbent will coordinate all aspects of quantitative literacy efforts in the college, including math placement, data analytics, math anxiety/metacognition workshops, assist in outreach programs with sending institutions, and the administration of mathematics and statistics research projects. As Director of the college’s Quantitative Reasoning Unit, the incumbent will have a significant role in supporting student success in foundational mathematics and statistics courses, which may include teaching a course in the core curricular math sequence. Others duties may include writing education research proposals, guiding the development of new programs within the college, representing the college at external math/stat-related events, developing long- and short-range goals for quantitative reasoning training for UMBC students.

QUALIFICATIONS: Requires an earned doctoral degree in mathematics or related field. Preference will be given to applicants with at least five years of relevant professional experience, preferably in higher education administration, teaching in STEM, and/or STEM student success programming. Candidates should have strong written and verbal communication abilities, leadership experience, and excellent interpersonal skills. Experience with educational research and/or grants management preferred.
