The Department of Mathematics welcomes applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2020. Responsibilities include teaching elementary and mathematical statistics, regression analysis and experimental design as well as introductory mathematics courses; advising students; scholarly work and establishing an active undergraduate research program in statistics or related discipline; and department, university, and professional service.

Required Qualifications:

* ABD, with Ph.D. in statistics completed by the date of appointment.

* Broad academic record/training in Mathematics and Statistics.

* Must exhibit evidence of strong commitment to excellence in teaching (supported by at least two current letters of recommendation attesting to recent teaching effectiveness).

* Evidence of capacity/potential for continued scholarly activity.

* Must be interested in involving undergraduate students in research.

* Evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

* Evidence of teaching effectiveness is a primary consideration.

* Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. * Successful interview, teaching demonstration and three successful background checks: Act 34 (Criminal Record Check); Act 114 (FBI Federal Criminal History-Fingerprinting); and Act 151 (Child Abuse History Clearance).

Preferred Qualifications:

* Demonstrated commitment to scholarly activity in statistics.

* Preparation and/or experience in teaching statistics courses.

* Potential for service or contributing to the department’s programs.

* Expertise in an area of focus, such as data science, actuarial science, linear models, multivariate analysis, non-parametrics, experience in statistical consulting, or post-doctoral research experience in statistics.
