Position Description:    

Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning fall 2019. Background in computational mathematics or numerical methods and research interests in applied analysis are highly desired. Preferred interests include Control Theory, Materials Science, Mechanics, and Optimization but applicants with interests in other applied areas of mathematics will be considered.

The department has several undergraduate degree programs in mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics as well as masters programs in mathematics and applied statistics. The position involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the department’s B.S. and M.S. programs, engaging in a productive program of research, and performing service at the department, college, and university levels. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in mathematics, applied mathematics, or related area, demonstrated experience in and commitment to quality teaching at the university level, and an active research program. The incumbent must also be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.
