Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer in Statistics. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and possibly graduate statistics courses; other duties may include advising undergraduate students in research, and providing statistical consulting on campus. Some courses will be taught online. The teaching load for this position is six courses per academic year. The lecturer position is a 38-week appointment. Summer teaching, with additional compensation, may be available.

We seek a motivated individual who will work well with faculty, administrators, and large numbers of students. Applicants should have a MS or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field, college-level teaching experience, and working knowledge of statistical software packages such as R and SAS. Experience developing online/blended learning materials and consulting experience are desirable.

Michigan Tech, a doctoral research university with an international reputation, is located in Houghton in Michigan’s scenic Upper Peninsula, on the south shore of Lake Superior. The area provides a unique setting where natural beauty, culture, education, and a diversity of residents from around the world come together to share a superb living and learning experience.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences has 35 faculty members with interests in probability, statistics, computational mathematics, combinatorics, algebra, and number theory. It offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in both Mathematics and Statistics, and has a new MS in Applied Statistics that can be earned entirely through online coursework. The department enrolls about 120 undergraduate students and 70 graduate students, and plays a key role in the university's interdisciplinary programs in Data Science and in Computational Science and Engineering.
