The Science and Mathematics faculty in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts on the Polytechnic Campus at Arizona State University invite applications for an Instructor position in Mathematics beginning in Spring 2020. Expectations for this position include: teach undergraduate and graduate courses, work alongside mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics faculty in order to provide students with a solid set of mathematics, computational, and statistical skills appropriate to their chosen major.

The Science and Mathematics faculty support students in nine undergraduate programs and one graduate program in the sciences and mathematics fields. We also offer three minors and one certificate. We have faculty conducting research in physics, biology, chemistry and applied mathematics. To learn more about the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts go to:

Teaching load is typically five (5) courses per semester. Course assignments are at the graduate/undergraduate levels and may occur in a variety of modalities (online, on-ground, hybrid) from the Polytechnic campus. Course load is determined by the faculty head. This is an academic-year 2019-2020 appointment with an anticipated start date of January 2020. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible position renewable on an academic year basis contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. Salary is competitive to commensurate with experience. Candidate must reside in Arizona, or be willing to relocate.

Required Qualifications:  Master’s degree in applied mathematics or closely related field  Experience teaching mathematics at the undergraduate level  Excellent written and spoken communication skills  Evidence of teaching effectiveness  Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion

Desired Qualifications:  Terminal degree in applied mathematics or closely related field at time of appointment  Experience teaching courses from college algebra through third-semester calculus, and differential equations/linear algebra  Experience using technology in your daily teaching of mathematics  Experience using course management systems such as Canvas and online homework systems  Experience working in a collaborative environment within and across disciplines  Demonstrated service to the profession
