The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Western Carolina University is inviting applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematics with the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2020. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field by the date of appointment. Dedication to undergraduate education, continued scholarship, and commitment to service is expected.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science has 18 tenure-line faculty and supports undergraduate programs in mathematics, mathematics education, and computer science. The mathematics program has concentrations in actuarial science, applied mathematics, data science, mathematics education, and traditional mathematics. The typical teaching load is 3-3. Class enrollments range from 40 in freshman level courses to the teens for upper level courses. Students are actively engaged in undergraduate research, contests, and extracurricular activities.
