Position Description:

The Duke Mathematics department  and Rhodes Information Initiative at Duke seek a post-doctoral research/teaching fellow to help with the instruction of classes around Data-Science, Machine Learning, and Computing.  The courses will generally be at the advanced undergraduate or masters level but could include some more introductory level classes. Both those with active research programs and those primarily interested in teaching are encouraged to apply as the positions configuration is flexible.

Topics of particular interest include:

  * Theory and practice of computing with high dimensional data

  * Theory and Practice of Distributed computing in Data science

  * Machine learning and AI

  * Natural language processing

  * Topological and geometric data analysis

The teaching load will be between 2 and 4 courses per year depending on departmental needs, the candidate's qualifications, and the candidate’s research or other scholarly activities. Salary will depend on qualifications and responsibilities.

Start date is yet to be determined, but likely will be August 1, 2020.

Position will be two years with the possibility of renewal.

Candidates with a PhD in Mathematics or allied fields such as Computer Science, Statistics, Electrical Engineering or Financial Engineering.
