Position Description:    

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Nebraska invites applications for 2 tenure-track assistant professors with an anticipated start date of August 17, 2020. One position is in Mathematical Statistics and one is in Data Science. Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in statistics or a closely related field by August 15, 2020

Successful candidates will join the rapidly-expanding Data and Decision Sciences (DDS) group in the Department of Mathematics. This group contains faculty with expertise in statistics, operations research and data science. Mathematics students can choose a concentration in any of these three areas at both the undergraduate and master’s levels. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty and students in the DDS group, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in both mathematics and statistics, supervise graduate students, and maintain an active research program.

For the mathematical statistics position, an interest in teaching introductory mathematics and statistics courses is particularly desirable.
