The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, renewable non-tenure-track faculty position of Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor of Mathematics in the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences to begin in August 2020. The position is oriented towards effective undergraduate instruction and there is no research requirement. A Master’s Degree (for appointment at the rank of Instructor) or Doctorate (for appointment at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor) in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Mathematics is required by the start of the appointment. The successful candidate must be able to engage in effective teaching. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in mathematics, curriculum development, and service to the School and University commensurate with expectations of all faculty. The expected teaching load is 12 student credit hours per semester. Experience teaching introductory mathematics or mathematics education courses at the college level, experience teaching online courses, experience mentoring mathematics education students and experience with recruitment will be considered positively.
