Grace College invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics and Actuarial Science. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in mathematics, especially Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, as well as engagement in college and community service, scholarly activity, and professional development.

Grace College is a Christ-centered liberal arts college informed by pietist and evangelical traditions. Located in the resort community of Winona Lake, near Warsaw, Indiana (36 miles west of Ft. Wayne), Grace College offers more than 70 academic majors. Central to the mission of the college is developing character, sharpening competence, and preparing for service. Our goal in Christian living and teaching is to make Christ preeminent in all things. The programs of the college, as well as its community lifestyle commitment, are designed to encourage serious academic inquiry, a biblical worldview, spiritual understanding, and social conscience, all in the context of God's grace.

The Department of Science and Mathematics exists within the School of Arts and Sciences, and includes - along with mathematics - biological, physical, exercise, and environmental sciences. It seeks a mathematics and actuarial science faculty member who has a strong commitment to a liberal arts undergraduate education and will continue to build upon the existing program.

Qualifications: This position offers an opportunity to an applicant with both teaching and research experience in the area of actuarial science or a related discipline. The successful candidate will have:
  • A Master’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field. A Ph.D. is preferred. Applicants without an actuarial science degree are expected to have progressed through actuarial exams; or, commit to a plan to complete a specified number of actuarial certification exams.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of an evangelical Christian institution.  Specifically, agreement with our Covenant of Faith and our Community Lifestyle Expectations.
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience in higher education.
  • A strong commitment to integrate faith with learning, both in the classroom and in all areas of life.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that engage students in educational growth.
  • A willingness to collaborate with colleagues across a variety of disciplines.
  • An ongoing research agenda.
  • Must show promise in the area of engaging undergraduate students in research and publication.
  • Must be willing to contribute to teaching the department’s general education courses.
