Position Details: Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a full-time one-year position of Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics to begin September 1, 2020.

The Gustavus Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics Department is passionate about teaching and active in scholarship. We are especially interested in candidates who see an important role for statistics within the context of a liberal arts education, and can share that vision with students.

Major/Essential Functions: The teaching assignment for this position is three courses per semester. Primary teaching responsibilities include introductory and intermediate level courses in statistics, and contributions to general education.

Minimum Qualifications: • PhD in statistics/data science or a related field; we will consider candidates who have achieved ABD status.

Preferred Qualifications: • Prior experience teaching introductory-level statistics courses; • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching; • Demonstrated sympathy with the aims and ideals of liberal arts education; and • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to pedagogical methods that enable students across racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups to reach their maximum potential.
