Salary(in AUD): $72,083* - $97,812 p.a.(*PhD entry level $91,125 p.a.) NOTE: the salary range indicated is current as at 23 April 2020; a 2.2% increase will apply from 1 May 2020.

Role & Superannuation rate: Academic - Full time - 9.5% superannuation

The School of Mathematics and Statistics is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Research Fellow to join a dynamic research program in the field of Applied Probability. The position is funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) through the recently awarded Discovery Project “Computational methods for population-size-dependent branching processes”.

This position provides an opportunity for an emerging researcher to build their research career. This is a unique opportunity to engage with a strongly collaborative and multidisciplinary team, as well as to gain supervision and organisational experience.

This project is led by Dr Sophie Hautphenne in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at The University of Melbourne, and co-led by Dr Giang Nguyen at The University of Adelaide and Dr Melanie Massaro at Charles Sturt University.

To be considered for this position you will have completed (or nearly completed) a PhD in applied probability or a related discipline. You will also be able to demonstrate a high level of mathematical modelling skills and aptitude for research, with a sound publication record in relevant areas, commensurate with experience and opportunities.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 2 years.
