The Department of Mathematics at the University of Virginia invites applications for two positions of Assistant Professor, General Faculty. This teaching non-tenure track position has three-year renewable contracts with successful reviews based primarily on teaching and service. There is also an opportunity for promotion to Associate and Full Professor. The anticipated starting date is August 25, 2021.

The Assistant Professor, General Faculty will teach in the Mathematics Department and help direct lower division courses. Responsibilities include providing leadership through a) coordination of multi-section courses, b) helping to create and sustain innovative pedagogy and curriculum, and c) supporting the expansion of current efforts to equip and mentor graduate teaching assistants (GTAs) in the department. Professional activity that enhances teaching is strongly encouraged.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics by the start of the appointment and have at least 2 years of teaching experience in Mathematics at the time of appointment, inclusive of teaching done as a graduate student. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated experience mentoring graduate teaching assistants and/or developing innovative pedagogy and curricula.
