The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Memphis invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in the area of Combinatorics and Graph Theory. Duties include carrying out a research program in an area of Combinatorics or Graph Theory, participating in the administrative duties for the department, and teaching a wide range of classes. The successful candidate will typically teach two courses per semester. Candidates should have a PhD in Mathematics, with a proven record of collaborative and independent research backed up by quality publications, have strong communications skills, and will be expected to seek external funding. The University of Memphis has strong traditions in Combinatorics and Graph Theory and was host to a decades-long collaboration between Paul Erdős and some of his most frequent coauthors. The successful candidate is expected to become a leader in their field and carry on those traditions. There are currently active members working in Graph Theory and Additive Combinatorics, and the Statistics group and the Department of Computer Science have an intensive research program in Data Science.
