The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Smith College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin on July 1, 2022. Dedicated teacher-scholars in applied mathematics or related fields are encouraged to apply. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Mathematics or in a related field, (except Statistics) a strong commitment to teaching, and a high potential for research. Candidates must have a track record of supporting students and a dedication to equity and inclusion. This position is part of a new cohort of four tenure-track positions and a postdoctoral position in applied mathematics, statistics, and data science.

The position has a teaching load of two courses per semester, with repeat preparations being common. Successful candidates will have an active research agenda and should be prepared to engage a diverse group of students in their program of research. They will be expected to help develop an applied math track through the math major.

We are the home of the Center for Women in Mathematics. In addition to courses in theoretical mathematics and applied mathematics, we co-host a Five College certificate in the biomathematical sciences, and with our award-winning post-baccalaureate program, we send a cohort of students to graduate school each year.
