The Department of Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University seeks applications to fill two tenure-track faculty positions in actuarial science, financial mathematics, applied probability, computational and data sciences, or related areas at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Department has a solid undergraduate program in actuarial science, a large financial mathematics track in the undergraduate math major, and a masters degree program in actuarial and quantitative risk management. It is expected that these faculty members will be significantly engaged with these programs (e.g. directing PhD, Master’s theses, directing undergraduate research, and teaching actuarial science and financial math courses). The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator and a willing collaborator with other faculty members in the Department.

Qualifications: A doctoral degree in Mathematics or related field is required at the time of application. The ideal candidate will have an excellent research record in their chosen research area, and evidence of strong teaching ability. They should also have a documented interest in financial mathematics and/or actuarial science. Appointment is contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or university policies, including but not limited to a criminal background check.
