Postdoc in Numerical Analysis

KTH Royal Institute of Technology, School of Engineering Sciences

KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities, as well as a key centre of intellectual talent and innovation. We are Sweden’s largest technical research and learning institution and home to students, researchers and faculty from around the world. Our research and education covers a wide area including natural sciences and all branches of engineering, as well as in architecture, industrial management, urban planning, history and philosophy.

Job description

The numerical analysis unit within the department of Mathematics is offering a two-year postdoc position. The research project will be focused on development of numerical algorithms based on integral equations that can be used to simulate e.g. close interactions of drops and particles in viscous fluids with control of the error. This entails error estimation of numerical approximation of so-called layer potentials, integrals over surfaces, as well as the development of cost-aware adaptive methods with error control. The project will span over theory, algorithms, software and applications.
