The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Michigan Technological University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) Conducting high-quality research supervised by one or more current faculty of the department, participating in research proposal writing, and teaching 3 courses per year.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements) Ph.D. in mathematics or statistics by Aug. 14, 2023.

Required Experience (minimum requirements) Research experience in machine learning, computational mathematics, Bayesian statistics, and teaching experience of undergraduate mathematics or statistics courses.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements) Potential for a productive research program. Strong communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.

Work Environment and/or Physical Demands The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
