| RWTH Aachen University, Department of Mathematics, is seeking one Postdoctoral Research Fellow of Applied Mathematics to commence Fall 2010. The successful candidate will work on a research project funded by the German Research Foundation DFG within the priority program on optimization with partial differential equations (see http://www.am.uni-erlangen.de/home/spp1253/). The aim of the project is the optimization of radiotherapy treatment plans, in which dose deposition is described by a set of partial differential equations. Particular expertise or interest in mathematical modeling, optimization and numerical methods for partial differential equations is very welcome but not required. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Computational Engineering, or a related field, by the time of appointment.
There are no teaching obligations. The working language is English. The candidate will be employed as a regular employee. The position is available immediately and is for a fixed two-year term. Salary is according to level TV-L E 13. The position comes with a travel budget. Participation in the annual workshops of the priority program is expected.
