| The Department of Mathematics of Colgate University is accepting applications for a visiting assistant professor for the 2010-2011 academic year, with a strong possibility of renewal for a second year.
A PhD in the mathematical sciences is required, as well as evidence of excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will, in the course of two semesters, teach five sections of our elementary courses (introductory statistics and/or calculus I, II, or III). Experience with mathematical statistics is desirable because there is the possibility of replacing one of the elementary courses with a section of 300--level statistics. Each semester there will be at most two different course preparations required. Review of complete applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants must apply at http://www.mathjobs.org. A complete application requires a vita, a teaching statement, a research statement, an unofficial graduate transcript, three letters of recommendation (at least one of which addresses teaching in detail), and a completed AMS Cover Sheet. Colgate is a highly--selective liberal arts college with 2800 students. Colgate, an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer, is committed to developing and sustaining a diverse faculty, student body, and staff in order to further the university's academic mission. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. |
