| The Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA), invites applications for the S.S. Chern Chair in Geometry, and the J. Simons Chair in Geometry, sponsored by the Simons Foundation and the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology. The first recruitment for these chairs will be in Differential Geometry as a tenure-track, - or tenure- position. Tenure will be considered during the first four years, or given upon appointment. The monthly salary will be between R$ 11,300 and R$ 15,000 (about US$ 6,250 and US$ 8,300 respectively at the June 23, 2010 exchange rate). During the first four years there will be also a monthly research allotment of R$ 2,500 (about US$1,400). Applications should be sent to chair@impa.br until October 31, 2010. The decisions will be made by January 10, 2011. The appointees should begin their engagement at IMPA any time between March 1, 2011 and September 1, 2011.
