Assistant Professor of the Practice in Statistics
The newly formed Department of Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics (ACMS) at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for the position of assistant professor of the practice in statistics. This is a non-tenure track faculty position, initially for one year, which can lead to a multi-year contract following successful performance. The teaching load for the position is 3 courses per semester for a total of 6 courses in the academic year. Curriculum development related to these courses, and training graduate students in teaching, are expected. Assigned courses will vary across undergraduate levels and focus on statistics and probability. The salary will be competitive with similar positions at comparable universities and depend on the candidate’s level of experience.
This position begins August 22, 2011. Applications, including a curriculum vitae should be filed through MathJobs (www.MathJobs.org). Applicants should also arrange for at least three letters of recommendation to be submitted through the MathJobs system. These letters should address the applicant's dedication to teaching excellence. The successful candidate must have a doctorate, preferably in statistics, and show success in teaching statistics to students with varying levels of mathematical experience. For additional information about the position or ACMS, please contact the department chair, Steven Buechler, email@example.com.
Notre Dame is an equal opportunity employer, and we particularly welcome applications from women and minority candidates.
