| The Department of Mathematics at Drexel University, Philadelphia,
anticipates to make a postdoctoral appointment with a starting date of
September 1st, 2012 (negotiable). Applicants are required to hold a PhD in
Mathematics or related area, with expertise in Sparse
Approximation/Compressive Sensing/Statistics. They should have knowledge of
(or be willing to learn) bioinformatics and genomics. Strong computational
skills are also a plus. The position requires working on the NSF-funded
collaborative project "Improving Analysis of Microbial Mixtures through
Sparse Reconstruction and Statistical Inference" under the joint mentorship
of Simon Foucart (Mathematics), Gail Rosen (Engineering), and Loni Philip
Tabb (Biostatistics). The goal of this project is to develop new
mathematical techniques to enhance microbial classification and comparison
from next-generation sequencing technology. The position carries no
teaching duties, but a small teaching contribution is possible upon request
and is encouraged. The appointment is renewable for 1 year, assuming
satisfactory performance.
Applications including a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a list of
publications, a brief research statement, and at least three letters of
reference should be submitted electronically on www.mathjobs.org before May
11th, 2011. Review of applications will start immediately and will continue
until the position is filled.
