The Department of Mathematics at Marshall University invites applications for one tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor starting in fall 2014. Candidates must hold the Ph.D. degree in mathematics or a related field at the time of appointment. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in combinatorics, dynamical systems, numerical analysis, or mathematical statistics. However, truly outstanding candidates in other fields of mathematical sciences will also be considered. In addition to formal scholarly credentials, candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring both undergraduate and graduate student research.
The Department also seeks a candidate who will contribute to the University’s general education curriculum with its emphasis on a common First-Year Seminar and core curriculum courses that enhance students’ critical thinking and the College’s support of interdisciplinary programs of study.
