School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at the West campus of Arizona State University

Arizona State University’s New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at the West campus invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Statistics with interest in developing curriculum related to the BS degree in Statistics. Preference will be given to applicants who: 1) can provide undergraduate students with research experience, 2) have research expertise and interests that complement current faculty research programs, and 3) have a demonstrated record of effective teaching at the undergraduate level.

General information: The School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences, New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences ( at Arizona State University’s West campus, is an interdisciplinary mathematical and natural science unit that encompasses biology, chemistry, computing, forensics, mathematics, physics, and statistics. The School emphasizes hands-on experience for undergraduates in faculty research programs and internships. Successful candidates will be expected to teach both general lower division courses and upper division courses in statistics; to establish a vigorous, externally-funded program of research in which undergraduates participate; and to contribute service to the university and the profession. We offer a BS degree in Statistics and an MS degree in Computational and Natural Sciences is under development. Faculty can participate in university-wide graduate programs. The School is committed to recruiting and retaining students and faculty from groups that have historically been underrepresented in the sciences. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Statistics or a related field by time of appointment; evidence of an ongoing research program in Statistics and a level of publication consistent with experience; evidence of successful college/university teaching; strong record of undergraduate mentorship; commitment and ability to work with a diverse student population; and experience and/or interest in collaboration with industry partners.

Desired Qualifications: Interest in establishing interdisciplinary research programs with other faculty in the School and University. Experience mentoring undergraduates in research. Experience developing new courses.
