Subject Area: Mathematics
Application Deadline: (posted 2016/09/19)
Position Description:

We seek a curriculum developer for our team who will create innovative and engaging mathematical content to challenge world-class mathematics students. Our WASC-accredited online school at AoPS.com has over 15,000 class enrollments per year. We have recently launched AoPS Academy (AoPSAcademy.org) learning centers in Morrisville, NC and Vienna, VA.

We help high-ability students to reach their full potential in mathematics and computer science. Almost all of the top contestants at MATHCOUNTS Nationals and the USA Mathematical Olympiad for the past half-decade have studied with AoPS materials and classes. We offer courses that provide an in-depth understanding of the material taught in the best middle school and high school mathematics classes as well as courses in discrete mathematics topics that are rarely seen in high school.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Very strong background in mathematics, as would be provided by at least a bachelors degree in math, physics, engineering, computer science, or a closely related field.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • The ability to invent fresh and original mathematical problems that inspire creative problem-solving in high-ability students.

Experience with mathematics competitions is an asset. This might include having competed as a student, having coached as a teacher, or having written problems for a competition.

The curriculum writer will work full time in our office in San Diego, CA. Benefits include vacation time, health insurance, and participation in our retirement plan. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience. All applicants must be legally able to accept full-time work in the U.S.

To apply, submit a resume/CV and a writing sample to jobs+HS16@artofproblemsolving.com. The writing sample should be mathematical or pedagogical in nature. Successful applicants have sent enrichment activities for classroom use, hand-outs that explain material beyond what is in a textbook, materials prepared for a math circle, and expository articles. We will evaluate applications until the position is filled.
