We are looking to add a curriculum developer to our team who will create innovative and engaging mathematical content for the Beast Academy series (

Since 2003, Art of Problem Solving ( has developed a wide range of educational materials for outstanding K-12 math students. Our online community at has over 200,000 members and hundreds of thousands of visitors each month. Our textbooks have been used by tens of thousands of students, including many winners of major national contests such as MATHCOUNTS and the American Mathematics Competitions. Our online school serves thousands of students each year with courses in middle school and high school math, contest preparation, and computer science. Beast Academy prepares students in grades 2-5 to perform at the highest levels.

Beast Academy produces a comic series for elementary students who aspire to become math beasts. The existing print materials for Beast Academy include fully-illustrated guidebooks written and illustrated in an all-ages comic book style. These texts are filled with inventive, creative, and ingenious problems that are designed to challenge and delight the best students. Future projects include completing the remaining books in the series and development of online training materials.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Very strong background in mathematics, as would be provided by at least a bachelors degree in math or a closely related field.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • The ability to invent fresh and original mathematical problems that inspire creative problem-solving in elementary school students.

The curriculum writer will work full time in our office in San Diego, CA. Benefits include vacation time, health insurance, and participation in our retirement plan. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
