The UM-SJTU Joint Institute was jointly established by the University of Michigan and Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2006. Its aim is to become one of the premier education and research institutions in the world. It offers both undergraduate and graduate education in engineering. Its curriculum is modeled after Michigan’s and all of its courses are taught in English. It has a top-tier faculty team and an extremely talented and motivated student body. Its graduates are routinely placed at graduate schools of top universities around the world and recruited by multinational companies.

Requirements: • A doctoral degree in mathematics or a related field; • Native-level English skills (native speaker preferred); • Experience in teaching undergraduate and / or graduate courses in engineering mathematics, including (but not limited to) subjects such as linear algebra, calculus of single and several variables, ordinary differential equations; • Matlab / Mathematica experience is a plus; • Knowledge and teaching experience in physics is a plus. Responsibilities: • Deliver up to 6 classes per academic year, each requiring 3 to 4 hours of lectures and 2 hours of office hours per week for 15 weeks; • Guide TAs in conducting recitation classes and grading students’ work; • Participate in other institutional activities, including curriculum development, committee service, etc. Application Materials: 1.
