The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Auburn University invites applications for several one- or two-year postdoctoral positions. The two-year appointments would be non-renewable, while the one-year appointments would be renewable once pending need, satisfactory performance, and availability of funding. The desired starting date is August 16, 2020. Applicants must have earned a PhD or equivalent degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or closely related field by the time appointment begins. We seek applicants whose research interests are compatible with faculty research in the department. In particular, the Department is looking for applicants in the following areas:

Computational Mathematics - We seek candidates with experience in Numerical Analysis on machine learning algorithms, quantum computing, and stochastic computing.

Applied and Computational Algebra/Algebraic Geometry

Statistics (Developing Graph-based Learning Methodology/Algorithms that are Robust to Class Imbalance and Cluster Shape and Number)

Statistics (The post-doc will need to have good background in mathematics and statistics theory with skills in linear and non-linear regression, statistical learning, machine learning, and optimization. Experience in physics modeling and aerodynamics is desired but not necessary.)

The candidates selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. In addition, candidates must possess excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
