The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Queen's University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow for a 12-month position, with possible extension to 24 months subject to progress of the project and availability of funds. The appointment is expected to start on July 15, 2020, or soon thereafter. The candidate will work under the direction of Felicia Magpantay and Troy Day on their project on modeling COVID-19 with Kings Distributed Systems. The annual salary is $55,000 and the successful candidate may be able to teach courses in the department for additional salary. Candidates should hold, or be near completion of, a PhD in mathematics, physics, statistics, engineering, or a related discipline, and possess expertise in numerical methods for deterministic and stochastic systems. A background in mathematical biology (especially in mathematical epidemiology), and demonstrated interest in working with a technology company are highly desirable. Strong writing skills, coupled with the ability to give clear and intuitive presentations, is also an asset.
