Applied and Computational Mathematics

The Department of Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics (ACMS) at The University of Notre Dame invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in Applied Mathematics to begin in September 2020 or after.  The initial contract will be for one year, which can be extended upon satisfactory performance and availability of funding. 

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (by September 2020), and have a strong background in computational mathematics.  The postdoc will collaborate with Dr. Jonathan Hauenstein in ACMS and Dr. Walter Scheirer in Computer Science and Engineering on developing and applying numerical methods for solving nonlinear equations and multi-objective optimization techniques in machine learning.  This position has no teaching responsibilities.

Candidates who have interests in working on projects related to any of the following fields are in particular encouraged to apply: machine learning, numerical algebraic geometry, optimization, statistics, and stochastics.
