Department of Data Science and Analytics Instructor of Data Science and Analytics Ball State University

The Data Science program of the College of Sciences and Humanities is seeking applicants to be part of a pool of part-time adjunct faculty. The responsibility will be teaching for the interdisciplinary online Master of Science in Data Science program.

Duties & Responsibilities: Teaching courses in one or more of the following areas: data science and/or data analytics with applications in social sciences (psychology, sociology, and geography), health science, bioinformatics or environmental sciences; advanced statistics and applied mathematics (e.g., generalized linear models, survival analysis, linear mixed models); computer science (e.g., data base design, data mining, data analytics). In preparation for online teaching, candidates will be expected to engage in opportunities for faculty development such as the Bootcamp for Multimodal Teaching and Learning by the Division of Online and Strategic Learning or demonstrate experience (1+ years) in online teaching.

Minimum Qualifications: PhD.

Candidates for searched must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Data Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Geography-Geographic Information Science, or any related field that utilizes “big data”. Experience teaching advanced statistics, computer science (database management, data mining, data analytics) and/or data science classes is highly desirable, as is experience with programming languages for data manipulation and statistical modeling such as R, SAS and/or Python. Additional knowledge on data science and analytics applications to environmental sciences, bioinformatics, social sciences (psychology, sociology, geography), health sciences and/or data visualization also desired. Experience in online instruction.
